Troubleshooting Non-working HVAC System. Please follow each of the steps below. Start with Step 1 and proceed to the last step, testing the unit at each step to verify if it is working correctly:
Step 1. Verify thermostat settings: Please ensure that the thermostat is set to “Auto” and that “Heat” or “Cool” is selected.
Step 2. Certain units have a light switch located near the unit that turns the system on or off. Look for a light switch located near the indoor HVAC unit (usually located in a closet or basement). If the switch is turned off, try turning it on.
Step 3. Check the filter in the unit to ensure it is clean and has been replaced. A dirty filter can cause damage to the unit and cause it to not run properly. Instructions for: Changing Your HVAC Air Filter
Step 4. Reset thermostat: There are many instances that a thermostat will not work correct because of a prior scheduled setting. Follow these steps to reset your thermostat: How to Reset ProgrammableThermostat
Step 5. After steps 1-4, if HVAC system is still not working correctly, please follow these steps: How to Replace a Thermostat Battery
Step 6. After you have gone through steps 1-4, please find the electric panel in the property and find the breaker for the HVAC unit. This should be labeled on the panel, but if it is not labeled, it should look like the breaker in the attached photo. Once you find the correct breaker, please turn it off and then back on. Step 7. Go back over to the thermostat to turn it back on and make sure it is set to "auto". a. If you have the heat on, please set the temperature below the current temperature in the property so it doesn't run. b.
